GDocs desperately needs the ability to re-open a document at the last edited point
I'm sick of paging through my document to get to the end. Why not re-open the document to the last edited point?

New Youtube Error screen has static and rolling vertical lines (cause you're awesome Google)
Only way I could see improving it in the future, would be if it tuned in random TV channels and showed you random staticy videos. Hilarious how people are making new technology mimic old technology.

Blogger works poorly with images, won't left justify my text and makes me want to smash my computer
Blogger kinda sucks with moving images around and won't left justify my text and makes me want to smash my computer. It won't stack images next to eachother properly. It doesn't deal well with large images or sizing them or moving them around the text. It's a huge ball of fail.

Can't believe you're doing this to me, Google
I'm now reconfiguring my MyYahoo account, which I haven't used since 2005? 2007? whenever iGoogle was introduced. It's like a lame outdated version of iGoogle, but at least Yahoo didn't close it for no reason. It's hard to configure, ugly, and hard to use, but at least it won't be disapearing for no reason with no alternative provided. Pathetic Google. Fucking Pathetic.
Google to close Blogger, Reader and Search
In more of their ongoing spring cleaning, Google has pledged to close every single part of Google that you currently use, if you do not start using Google+ instead of Facebook. "At Google, we're very serious about our products," said administrix Marissa Miller, "We find out what people are using, design interfaces that they like and then we shutdown the project because it's not related to Google+."
With the closing of Blogger, Reader and Search, Google is making a serious push into Google+. "We know that users love our current offerings, but once we close Blogger, Reader and Search, we feel that users will have nothing else to do but love Google+ as well," said Sergey Brin, CEO. "We've heard your pleas that you'll simply use another search engine or go back to using MyYahoo, but our core focus is not the end user. Our core focus is how many products do we have to close before people will submit and use Google+. We thought that last year's decision to close iGoogle, and throw away all that traffic for no reason, to decouple our google services, disconnect them and make them harder to use would give people the right idea. We at Google don't give a shit about our users, unless they're using Google+."
When asked about plans for the future, Google said they plan to shutdown the popular GoogleNews application. "As we've seen with the growth of apps and appstores, old webpages like Google News that people use everyday to get the news, simply aren't as valuable as they used to be." said Marissa Miller, "In fact, one of our engineers believes that Google could elminate it's entire web presence by 2015. We will exist entirely in the Google Chrome Play App Store." Just don't tell her, that Google plans to close the Chrome Play App Store in 2014, siting a lack of user interest in the Android platform, which they also plan to sunset in 2013. "Basically we don't want anyone to use our products and we will do whatever is neccessary to chase them away. Even if they switched from MyYahoo years ago and prefer iGoogles smooth interface to the jangled mess of MyYahoo, we don't care. We want to send them away, back to what they used for information in the 90s. Ideally old competitors like Alta Vista and Lycos will rise up again to take this web traffic that after all these years and all this work, we really don't want."

Google to eliminate iGoogle - WHY?
WHY?
I visit your homepage every day. Now you want me to stop?
Yes, there are alternatives in the Google Chrome store that allow you to view the weather, but what about viewing the weather while I view my to-do list, while I view a few google news boxes. There isn't an app for that, because it's called iGoogle.
Even the name of their article is embarassing:
"What's happening to iGoogle?"
It's clear that they know they're pissing people off. What's happening to this service I loved? Why are you killing it?
this is just ridiculous:

iGoogle will be retired in 16 months, on November 1, 2013. The mobile version will be retired on July 31, 2012.
How did you come to this decision?
We originally launched iGoogle in 2005 before anyone could fully imagine the ways that today's web and mobile apps would put personalized, real-time information at your fingertips. With modern apps that run on platforms like Chrome and Android, the need for something like iGoogle has eroded over time, so we’ll be winding down iGoogle on November 1, 2013, giving you a full 16 months to adjust or easily export your iGoogle data.
What will happen to the data stored in my gadgets?
All of your personal data stored in other Google products will continue to be available via those products, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Finance, Google Docs (now Google Drive),Google Bookmarks, and Google Tasks. Other gadgets, like the to-do list, allow you to export your data - look for the “Download all” option under the drop-down menu tied to the title of your list. Most iGoogle gadgets are created and maintained by third-party developers. If you’d like to export your data, you should contact the gadget creator directly.
I really like iGoogle -- are there any other alternatives?
On your mobile device, Google Play offers applications ranging from games to news readers tohome screen widgets.
If you’re a fan of Google Chrome, the Chrome Web Store provides a similar range of options likeproductivity tools and applications to check the weather. In addition, just like iGoogle, you canpersonalize Chrome with a theme.

Blogger should stop loading twice on the Post page, with it's unhideable sidebar
blogger loads, and then loads again. The sidebar seems to require the screen to refresh itself for some reason. I wish it would stop. It drives me a bit batty, watching it load twice everytime.

Blogger: really should spell check the title field.
what makes spell check a good feature is when you can rely on it. When it checks some of the document, but not the title field, it's like spell check has set a trap for the humans to fall into. Why spell check? Why?

Google search for iPad is a pleasure to use
Bit surprised they didn't update the blogger app. Pity. Will have to try the web based version.
Google web apps on iPad don't show proper icons
Not sure if this is just me, cause they always worked on iPhone... News has the correct icon, but Tasks, and a link to Google Finance look like ugly pictures of the webpage, not a cool icon. Maybe it's cause I created the shortcuts, not that annoying popup window that asks you to create shortcuts...

Google Share Box Hijinks
Maybe my fonts are too large. That's often a problem. I don't see any reason why the computer shouldn't have nice easy to read fonts, especially in Google Reader, a program I use for Reading (not multitasking).
Typing in the sharebox. Actually going to share (clicked +, which is more like a like button with an annoying apendage) when I noticed the share button is off screen.
I scrolled a little.
The box disappeared.
It's gone.
It ate my text and it's gone. Share box, we cannot be friends. I never wanted you, I prefer +ing things and moving on, but the one time I do actually try to use you, you disappear. No es bueno mon amie.

Blogger: Overzealous G+ share box never stops
Got a private blog - Share box offers to share a link to the blogger login page every time you save a post.
Sharebox still loads on edits. Make a small typo, don't forget to share again to G+.
Blogger still does this thing where it loads fine and then it loads again to load this meaningless sidebar that I can't get to go away. It's annoying.

A few notes on the amazing Coachella live streaming
Amazing Coachella Live Streaming on Youtube
1. On Day 2, the schedule still defaults to Day 1. (I'm guessing this will go for Day 3 as well.)
2. There is no pause, stop or off button. (If you had one window playing and one window reading the schedule, you'd need twice the bandwidth... unless you have flashblock.)
3. The band names are just text, not links. (Why am I cutting and pasting band names to look them up instead of clicking on them for a google search, a wiki page, or I'm sure better yet via your thinking a "Play Artist Page" (presuming those exist).
Otherwise, I love the incredible "liveness" of the HD Stream and the amazing music. Haven't been this impressed since Google streamed Bridge School. Really hope this happens every year.

Google updates Scratchpad
Scratchpad, the little notepad that could, which I actually like better than the Google Docs writer was updated today to the new google red and clean style. Mostly I like it. I also like that it seemed to auto title the document after I typed the first line. Excellent. Go Scratchpad, GO!

Blogger: Why no paragraphs in blockquote?
Everytime I blockquote it destroys my paragraphs. When I try to add them in using the editor, it doesn't work. When I use HTML mode and put in (BR)'s it works. What's the deal, Google? You got something against complex blockquotes? I agree they're lazy writing, but if you want to quote multiple paragraphs you don't want to slam them together and make them harder to read...

iGoogle Tasks: Strange Error places periods next to checkboxes
This is the kind of small HTML error that usually happens on my webpages, not the great and all powerful google. It kinda looks like a numbering error. Like they wanted to add the option to number your tasks, but only added the periods. I didn't want to say anything and I was hoping it was a one time load error, but it's still there. Maybe it's an error in iGoogle or in the theme. Not sure. Hope it goes away. Wish I could tell someone important who actually worked on the project. Then I'd have a job working for Google.
Blogger still hides the white page from you, has annoying sidebar loading issue
Blogger fixes full page display issue, still has side bar loading late pop in annoyance issue, but it's getting better. (take that back, I was in HTML mode. In compose mode it still hides half the page to protect you from the white page? Also the annoying side panel animations continue. Switch modes from HTML to Compose, annoying animation, create a new post, annoying animation. They have the same thing in Google Docs. I only use the writing portion, never the sidebar, so why do I have to watch the page load and then reload each time?)

Google Docs - should remember my place in the document
Stop starting me at the begining of the doc everytime! I'm clearly there to add more to the document. I've seen the begining and now I'd like to continue at the end. At least give me the choice or show me a popup window.

Gmail should allow you to answer the phone and talk with a robot voice
When I don't have a microphone hooked up to my computer, or I'm in the library or a public place where I need to keep quiet, it would be really cool if Gmail could answer the phone for me.
In more detail. My phone rings. I push answer. Gmail converts what the person is saying to text. I type a response. Gmail converts to to computer speak. My friend hears a computery voice, but we are able to communicate even though I don't have a microphone and I'm not annoying anybody with my speakers or lack of headset. Also great service for the deaf.
This is a good idea Google. I'd really like to see you get on it.

Adsense Account Settings Page makes Phone Verification Difficult by hiding your phone number
Recently signed up for an Adsense account and found it to be very confusing due to an error in the way the Account Settings page was setup:
Note that the phone number the page is displaying is NOT the phone number used to verify your account. The phone number used to verify your account is hidden in "edit address" and not displayed on the Account Settings page. Now that's confusing!
Update: Kinda bummed that Google hasn't fixed this yet. Seems like a no brainer. Did everything I could. Even submitted it to their support forums, but no response yet.
Chrome (mac) - Bug Alert - Long Shortcuts cause Oversized Finder Window in Open File
If you've got a really long name on your "shortcuts sidebar" in Finder, and you try to open a file in google chrome, Chrome fails to shorten the long name, forcing the sidebar to resize itself to match the long shortcut name.
Really long shortcut names confuse Google Chrome, but Finder just makes them short:

New +1 icon
A clear improvement. Leaving behind the old multicolor google scheme and adopting the new Google the Red vs. Facebook the Blue prisim by which we will view our world. (Blogger still a nice orange)
Share Button Delenda Est! - They pop it up everytime you push +1 so why even have it! (sure I like it as a distinction but I'm sick of them popping it up everytime I edit a blog post, preview a blog post or +1 something. It's sad pathetic needy behavior bordering on buggy and google deserves better.

Blogger: Share box with a mind of it's own randomly loads, even though I never want it to
Seriously google. First you ask me to overshare (asking me after each one of my blog posts) and now you're randomly asking me to share when I update the post or now even preview the post. You've got some serious issues with this share box. First you don't need it, let the people auto share to G+ or never share. Why always pop me up a box? I probably would have chosen auto-share, but now without the option, having seen this box so many times (and on preview, really. like I want to share that I'm making small edits and seeing how they look?) that I'd probably go to auto-share off and leave your empty social network in the dust. At first I just didn't like the box, as it came up when I +1'ed something, which I see as more as a "like", but now I fricking hate it. Good job, Google. (not)

Why the Share Box is wrong and +1s shouldn't bring it up
I +1 something because it's cool. That's enough. If I want to write a paragraph about it, or tell people why it's cool, then I'll push the "share" button and be excited by the chance to set which circles this post goes to, etc. But for now, why not keep +1 more like "like" (that is who you're copying, afterall) and just make it a quick and passive share (then better integrate them into the social feed of G+, you know, like actually having them there in the first place. What's the point of a profile? Profiles, timelines? These are the past. It's stream stream stream and it's gotta be new and different. Why not put the +1's in and then help people to +1 more things by making it less annoying?)
Blogger - annoying share box is back, now endlessly circling
This is old and pathetic thinking, Google. If I wanted to share, just give me an option to auto share and get out of the way. You bring up this box everytime I make a new post or edit a post. That's too much. I only want to "share" the best posts. I want to passively share the rest. Make it passive with a setting and stop popping up so many boxes. You can do better, Google. I know you can.
G+ needs to videogameify if it wants to beat Facebook
G+ is a boring ghost town. But so is facebook sometimes. Why? Because they still show me static lists of posts I've already seen instead of knowing that I've already seen it and loading new content (new being different, not just timely). Facebook and G+ need to be more like video games and less like static lists of posts. Farmville (though I don't play) doesn't need to be it's own game, it needs to be integrated into the "facebook dashboard" so that watering your crops is done simultaeenously while liking a friends post. We all need to be drawn into a Second Life/World of Warcraft/Facebook. True interactivity. More like a video game and less like a static list of posts. More like a digital summer camp counsler who's thrilled and excited to show me all the new stuff that's been happening. (especially when I'm bored and constantly pushing refresh)

Gmail - new annoying bar hides my mailboxes
Again, this obsession with minimalism almost bordering on secrecy. I still need to use the program, Google. I still have things in my other mailboxes that I filter there. Hiding them only makes it impossible for me to see them and makes Gmail harder to use. You can't just hide all the settings because your graphic designer is into minimalism.
The real question is, now that I've dragged down the annoying hide your mailboxes bar (using it's invisible controls that only appeared because I hovered over it), will it come back? So far it's sticking on this computer across multiple tabs. We'll see what happens on my other computers. Maybe I have to set it once per machine or perhaps it remembers across the board. Either way, another annoying attempt to hide useful settings and program controls. Not sure what you're doing Google. The more features you hide from your audience, the less features they will use and the less impressed they will be with your already excellent software.

iGoogle settings has a Contacts tab and I don't know why
real puzzler. Don't even know why this tab is here or why Contacts is connected in anyway to iGoogle (a my yahoo like homepage that I enjoy, but could use more configuration options and a way to hide all the stuff. Super iGoogle for Greasemonkey is a nice solution, but I'd like to see Google themsevles give up this one size fits all approach and allow for more customization options (to everything)). Just confused. Don't even know why this option is there. This is a rare first for the Google.

Google Chrome - removing the + makes adding new tabs confusing
Without the "+" it's harder for new users to understand how to add new tabs. It's design over function. |
Update: Looking at it now, a few days later, it still looks wrong. It looks like a program where the bitmap hasn't properly loaded. Like part of the program is missing. Bring back the + button for adding new tabs, Google. It's okay to make mistakes and overly embrass minimalism, as long as you come back when you know you've gone too far. (and remove the blog reader from Blogger! Blogger is a publishing tool. Google Reader is a blog reader. Seperate them!)

have turned off headers and footers five thousand times now. Why won't it remember? They're ugly and uglify everything I print. Why must I always say NO?!?!?

Google Social Search - This is annoying
I don't know how to tell this to you, Google. I don't want to know what my friends think. I want to know what you, Google, the source of all knowledge and information thinks. When I search for
"fish", I'm seeking information about "Fish", not information about my friend's fishing trip. Your failure to see the difference between the time and place for these two searches (one I would do on Google, the source of information, one I would do on Google+ or Facebook or Twitter.) Maybe Google the source of information should just stay out of these other spheres and let me have my search results unmolested by the annoyance that is "social search".
Update: I found the "Hide social search results" button. From now on hopefully I won't have to see these "social search results" and we can both forget this every happened. Google can go back to being a source of information.

Blogger - Disable "share on google+" (option not found)
Attention Google! You've gone too far again. Everytime I update a post or create a new post on Blogger, it offers me an annoying pop up box to share on G+. I don't want to spam my people (who are so few anyway) everytime I fix a typo. And I'm sick of this box. It has no "auto share" leave me alone option and no "I don't want to share" leave me alone option. I'm stuck searching for it on Google, where I didn't find anything (despite the new annoying social search.), but at least now I'll find this post.
